For Peace and rest read Matt

Matt 11
25 At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes.

26 Even so, Father: for so it seemed good in thy sight.

… 27 All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him.

28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.

30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

Fear Not , I am thy Shield

God encourages Abram , how does this relate to us ???

God’s word assurs us of safety and happiness; that we should be safe. I am thy shield; or, I am a shield to thee, present with thee, caring for thee. The consideration that God himself is, and will be a shield to his people, to secure them from all evils, a shield ready to them, and a shield round about them, should silence all perplexing, tormenting fears.

Jesus THE BLOOD Atonement

The Last Supper – Matt 26:17-19 , Mark 14:12-16 , Luke 22:7-13

17On the first day of the Festival of Unleavened Bread, the disciples came to Jesus and asked, “Where do you want us to make preparations for you to eat the Passover?” 18 He replied, “Go into the city to a certain man and tell him, ‘The Teacher says: My appointed time is near. I am going to celebrate the Passover with my disciples at your house.’” 19 So the disciples did as Jesus had directed them and prepared the Passover.

23And he took the cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them: and they all drank of it. 24And he said unto them, This is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many.

Below are the pictures of the Upper Room in Jerusalem

The Lord’s Table unites everyone Christ has redeemed by His blood “out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation” (Rev. 5:9)

Prayer in Garden

30And when they had sung an hymn, they went out into the mount of Olives.

The word gethsamane means an Olive press … Jesus would often come to the garden he would kneel and pray .In the upper room he had the last supper

Prayer in Garden

36Then cometh Jesus with them unto a place called Gethsemane, and saith unto the disciples, Sit ye here, while I go and pray yonder. 37And he took with him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and began to be sorrowful and very heavy. 38Then saith he unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful, even unto death: tarry ye here, and watch with me. 39And he went a little farther, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt. 40And he cometh unto the disciples, and findeth them asleep, and saith unto Peter, What, could ye not watch with me one hour? 41Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak. 42He went away again the second time, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if this cup may not pass away from me, except I drink it, thy will be done. 43And he came and found them asleep again: for their eyes were heavy. 44And he left them, and went away again, and prayed the third time, saying the same words. 45Then cometh he to his disciples, and saith unto them, Sleep on now, and take your rest: behold, the hour is at hand, and the Son of man is betrayed into the hands of sinners.

These are the pictures from garden of Gathsemane on Mt.Olives in Jerusalem

Matt 26:26,28 — “This is my body” ; ” Drink from it , all of you ” For this is My blood of the new covenant which is shed for many for the remission of sins.”
THE BLOOD, Jesus used the occasion of the passover meal to inaugurate the New Covenant. The Symbolism of the passover meal under the Old Covenant is fully satisfied through Christ’s crucifiction. The bread represents His body, which would be given and the cup His blood which would be shed for the forgiveness of sins.A new and eternal bond is estabished by the blood of Jesus Christ.

Romans 3:25 –Whom God set forth as a propitiation by His blood, throu faith to demonstrate His righteousness, because in His forbearance God had passed over tthe sins that were previoulsy commited.

Thank you Jesus for the atoning sacrify once and for all. Thanks for cleaning my sins, for forgiveness and for bringing me into your righteousness.

Glory to your Holy Name.

God of details – Triumph of Jesus all the way through

Triumph of Jesus all the way through – Triumphal entry into Jerusalem , to cross and resurrection .Here is a visual of the Triumphal Entry of Jesus with the Modern day pictures of Jerusalem

Palm Sunday its a day of celebration and I greet you all in Jesus Name, it marks the beginning of Holy week ..Celebrate all week . What a wonderful week, it begins with Celebrations and ends in much more greater celebrations !!!!! Let the Joy of  Resurrection of Jesus abound in you this week and all the days to come.
Palm Sunday is recorded in all four of the Gospels :

1.Matthew 21:1-11; 2.Mark 11:1-10; 3.Luke 19:28-38; and 4.John 12:12-18

Luke 19

28 When He had said this, He went on ahead, going up to Jerusalem.

29 And it came to pass, when He drew near to Bethphage and Bethany, at the mountain called Olivet, that He sent two of His disciples

Current day going up to Jerusalem Picture

37 Then, as He was now drawing near the descent of the Mount of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works they had seen, 38 saying:

“ ‘Blessed is the King who comes in the name of the Lord!’
Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!”

Mark 11:1-10 — The Triumphal Entry

11 Now when they drew near Jerusalem, to Bethphage and Bethany, at the Mount of Olives, He sent two of His disciples; and He said to them, “Go into the village opposite you; and as soon as you have entered it you will find a colt tied, on which no one has sat. Loose it and bring it. And if anyone says to you, ‘Why are you doing this?’ say, ‘The Lord has need of it,’ and immediately he will send it here.”

The care that our Lord Jesus takes to give us details about the colt , thats going to carry him into his Triumphal entry .As Alpha and Omega he knows it all..instead of looking at horoscopes, astrology and other star reading , star gazing methods…look to Jesus he knows every detail and every situation in every ones life. A brand new colt ..on which no one sat !!!My Lord got a brand new ride . ;-)

So they went their way, and found the colt tied by the door outside on the street, and they loosed it. But some of those who stood there said to them, “What are you doing, loosing the colt?”

And they spoke to them just as Jesus had commanded. So they let them go. Then they brought the colt to Jesus and threw their clothes on it, and He sat on it. And many spread their clothes on the road, and others cut down leafy branches from the trees and spread them on the road. Then those who went before and those who followed cried out, saying:

“Hosanna!
‘Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!’
10 Blessed is the kingdom of our father David
That comes in the name of the Lord!
Hosanna in the highest!”

Current day palm tree in Jerusalem — The palm branch was a symbol of triumph and victory in Jewish tradition, and is treated in other parts of the Bible also Leviticus 23:40 and Revelation 7:9. Therefore, the scene of the crowd greeting Jesus by waving palms and spreading his path with palms and their cloaks has become such a tradition …till day many chruchs around the world follow it as a Celebration on palm sunday.

O Christ our God
When Thou didst raise Lazarus from the dead before Thy Passion,
Thou didst confirm the resurrection of the universe.
Wherefore, we like children,
carry the banner of triumph and victory,
and we cry to Thee, O Conqueror of Death,
Hosanna in the highest!
Blessed is He that cometh
in the Name of the Lord.

Join me in Celebration of our Triumphal Lord Jesus Christ !!! Hallelujah !!!! Hosanna in the Highest !!!

Transfiguration of Jesus Christ

Mount Tabor where the Transfiguration of Jesus Christ of Nazareth believed to have happened — Luke 9:28-36

28 About eight days after Jesus said this, he took Peter, John and James with him and went up onto a mountain to pray.

29 As he was praying, the appearance of his face changed, and his clothes became as bright as a flash of lightning.

30 Two men, Moses and Elijah, appeared in glorious splendor, talking with Jesus.

31 They spoke about his departure, which he was about to bring to fulfillment at Jerusalem.

32 Peter and his companions were very sleepy, but when they became fully awake, they saw his glory and the two men standing with him.

33 As the men were leaving Jesus, Peter said to him, “Master, it is good for us to be here. Let us put up three shelters—one for you, one for Moses and one for Elijah.” (He did not know what he was saying.)

34 While he was speaking, a cloud appeared and covered them, and they were afraid as they entered the cloud.

35 A voice came from the cloud, saying, “This is my Son, whom I have chosen; listen to him.”

36 When the voice had spoken, they found that Jesus was alone. The disciples kept this to themselves and did not tell anyone at that time what they had seen.

Mount Tabor is located in Lower Galilee, at the eastern end of the Jezreel Valley, 11 miles (18 km) west of the Sea of Galilee, in Israel

Elevation 575 m (1,886 ft)

Accessibility

Mount Tabor is located off of Highway 65, and its summit is accessible by personal vehicle via Shibli’s access road. The peak itself is also traversed by the Israel National Trail.

Nowadays the reaching the top of the mountain itself does not demand great effort, but before circa 1,600 years ago one had to walk up no less than 4,340 stairs in order to arrive at the peak of the mountain.

Walking paths

There are two paths: the long track, which starts from the Bedouin village Shibli, length is about five kilometers long and a short nature track of about 2.5 kilometers at the summit.

The track which surrounds the mountain passes in well-developed Mediterranean woodlands. the color marking alternates to green at the eastern part of the track. Behind the monastery its possible to see remnants from the First Jewish–Roman War. In the path there is a view of the Jezreel Valley, Mount Gilboa, Samaria mountains, Mount Carmel, the Golan Heights, Gilead, the Lower Galilee and the Upper Galilee. On days with good visibility one could also see the Mount Hermon.

Israel National Trail goes up the mountain from mount Tabor the Gazit junction and the Shibli village, surrounding the summit and descends across the Arab village of Daburiyya towards the Nazareth mountains.

Jesus Tempted in the wilderness

Jesus Is Tested in the Wilderness

Matthew 4: 11

1 Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.
2 After fasting forty days and forty nights, he was hungry.
3 The tempter came to him and said, “If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread.”
4 Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”
5 Then the devil took him to the holy city and had him stand on the highest point of the temple.
6 “If you are the Son of God,” he said, “throw yourself down. For it is written:

“‘He will command his angels concerning you,
and they will lift you up in their hands,
so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.’”
7 Jesus answered him, “It is also written: ‘Do not put the Lord your God to the test.’”

8 Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendor.
9 “All this I will give you,” he said, “if you will bow down and worship me.”
10 Jesus said to him, “Away from me, Satan! For it is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God, and serve him only.’”
11 Then the devil left him, and angels came and attended him.

“Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world — the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life — is not of the Father but is of the world. And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever” (1 John 2:15-17)

 Genesis 3:6

6.When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it.

Satan /Devil used 1. the lust of the flesh, 2.the lust of the eyes, and 3. the pride of life on Eve and adam

Again Satan /Devil used 1. the lust of the flesh, 2.the lust of the eyes, and 3. the pride of life on Jesus in the wilderness

here’s how –>

1. The lust of the flesh:

Jesus was hungry after 40 days and nights of fasting …
verse 3 The tempter came to him and said, “If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread.”
verse4 Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”
When are body is hungry its easy to yield … so Lust of the flesh is an easy attack for the devil .

2.The lust of the eyes :

8 Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendor.
9 “All this I will give you,” he said, “if you will bow down and worship me.”
10 Jesus said to him, “Away from me, Satan! For it is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God, and serve him only.’”

3. The pride of life :

verse5 Then the devil took him to the holy city and had him stand on the highest point of the temple.

Actual Location ” Mount of Temptation”

Scriptures, Scriptures, Scriptures….Read them, Memorise them , quote them in every situation …Devil would be constantly using those 3 points to come at us , but with God’s words we can tell Satan to hush and get behind us .

Hope you are inspired and strengthened by this post.

God Bless you

Bracelet of Rebekah in Genesis

During my 1st visit to Dubai years ago , I was in complete awe as I walked around in the gold souk’s I have seen so many items of jewelry its not funny. I saw many bangles and bangle stores , but as I walked along I saw somespecial Bangles /Bracelets I have never seen in my life , posted below are some pictures from there. But I wondered why such Bangles ??? Years later I was in Dubai with my parents , my dad didn’t even realise they were bangles , I cant remember what he thought they were. After all these years I have a revelation of why they made such Bangles. Before you read on see the pictures so you understand what I am saying.

Genesis Chapter 24 :

10 And the servant took ten camels of the camels of his master, and departed; for all the goods of his master were in his hand: and he arose, and went to Mesopotamia, unto the city of Nahor.

11 And he made his camels to kneel down without the city by a well of water at the time of the evening, even the time that women go out to draw water.

12 And he said O LORD God of my master Abraham, I pray thee, send me good speed this day, and shew kindness unto my master Abraham.

13 Behold, I stand here by the well of water; and the daughters of the men of the city come out to draw water:

14 And let it come to pass, that the damsel to whom I shall say, Let down thy pitcher, I pray thee, that I may drink; and she shall say, Drink, and I will give thy camels drink also: let the same be she that thou hast appointed for thy servant Isaac; and thereby shall I know that thou hast shewed kindness unto my master.

15 And it came to pass, before he had done speaking, that, behold, Rebekah came out, who was born to Bethuel, son of Milcah, the wife of Nahor, Abraham’s brother, with her pitcher upon her shoulder.

16 And the damsel was very fair to look upon, a virgin, neither had any man known her: and she went down to the well, and filled her pitcher, and came up.

17 And the servant ran to meet her, and said, Let me, I pray thee, drink a little water of thy pitcher.

18 And she said, Drink, my lord: and she hasted, and let down her pitcher upon her hand, and gave him drink.

19 And when she had done giving him drink, she said, I will draw water for thy camels also, until they have done drinking.

20 And she hasted, and emptied her pitcher into the trough, and ran again unto the well to draw water, and drew for all his camels.

21 And the man wondering at her held his peace, to wit whether the LORD had made his journey prosperous or not.

22 And it came to pass, as the camels had done drinking, that the man took a golden earring of half a shekel weight, and two bracelets for her hands of ten shekels weight of gold;

The servant took some betrothal gifts to Rebekah. Wow …Put yourself in her shoes …

Would you have agreed to marry if you were given small skimpy bangle’s and a nose ring as your betrothal gift ??? and you have never seen this guy or known this guy ( Issac in this case ){ either on facebook or on the web } you couldn’t google him or call up some one to do some back ground check. So what I realised now is a bracelet of this size as in the picture would definitely impress Rebekah or anyone and that’s also indicative of the wealth of Issac through Abraham. Now I also understand the size of those bangles I saw in the streets of Dubai .

Tradition continues in India and in many cultures there is a betrothal party before the day of marriage and its usually great fellowship with thanksgiving to God , fun , food and gifts to the bride.

Why do Indian’s marry their cousins ???

                                                                                                       Writing started Feb 20th 2012
Its weird to many cultures Why Indian’s marry their cousins ?
Its wooed upon …ewww’ed upon and laughed upon !!!!Having lived in America myself for too long the concept of people marrying their cousins weirded me out until I came across this passage of scripture and it spoke to me and here are my thoughts about it.

Its very prominent in South India , I say this as I can speak for south Indians and its a significant part of the culture in the entire country and has been in practise for at least the last100 years.

Evidently Hindu culture seems to follow the Holy Bible (Old testament ) more closely that any other culture’s especially in this aspect.

From the Holy Bible Genesis 28:2 —

verse 2Arise, go to Padanaram, to the house of Bethuel thy mother’s father; and take thee a wife from thence of the daughter’s of Laban thy mother’s brother.

Who is saying verse 2 —> Issac
Who is supposed to arise and go –> Jacob
Who is the mother –> Rebekah
What is House of Bethuel –> Rebekah’s father’s house
Who is mother’s brother –> Laban
Who should he take as wife —> Daughter’s of Laban
Who is Laban to Jacob –> Uncle
Who are Laban’s daughters to Jacob –> cousins
Who is Jacob to take as wife –> cousin—
Wallah !!!!!!!!!!!!

Clearly this is an arranged match not e-harmony or e-chemistry , arranged marriage concept also takes it root from this. This one verse addresses the concept of
1. Marring the cousins ( Mom’s brothers kids ) and 2. the concept of Arranged marriage.

Marrying the cousins follows a certain logic ——Mom’s daughters can marry her brothers sons , mothers sons can marry brother’s daughter.Doesnot apply to Mom’s sisters kids , Brother’s brother….why may be because Jacob didnt mention it as it had no relevant in Jacob’s situation.

seems confusing : here’s an example
Father has 2 daughters and 2 sons .
lets call the Daughtes — D1 and D2 and sons –S1 and S2 —Marriage between cousins can happen as established above.
now       D1′s and D2′s daughters can marry S1 and S2′s sons
D1 and D2′s sons can marry S1 and S2′s daughter.
but S1′s daughters cannot marry S2′s sons and viceversa and D1′s sons cannot marry D2′s daughters and vice versa.

Part 2 :

A huge blessings follows verse 2. do the marriage and be blessed is part of the blessing …

verse 3And God Almighty bless thee, and make thee fruitful, and multiply thee, that thou mayest be a multitude of people;

In reality here in India ….millions of people have married their cousins , back in the day it was much more prevalent and the same blessing that Issac gave to Jacob is also relevant or applied here to these people…

a.make thee fruitful
b.Multiple thee
c.mayest be a multitude of people

a,b,c holds true for our culture with a population of 1.21 billion in 2011 .

come to think of it …it also happens in the southern regions of United States , may be because its the bible belt and they follow the word closely again in this concept than the rest of the country.

so before you feel its weird or laugh at it …think again its a deep rooted tradition back from the days of Issac !!!!!!!
